How long does a typical multifamily install take?
For a 100 to 300 unit property, a full intercom and access control upgrade typically takes 4 to 8 weeks depending on building complexity. We sequence the work entry by entry so residents never lose access to any door during the project. Smaller scopes (single-system retrofits, partial upgrades) are often complete in 1 to 3 weeks.
Will residents be displaced during installation?
No. We specialize in occupied-building installations. We pull cable in metal EMT conduit, sequence work to keep every entrance functional, and handle any temporary changes with notice to residents. Our 200-unit Arlington project completed with zero residents displaced and zero security gaps.
What does a site walk and quote actually involve?
A team member visits your property, walks every relevant area, takes photos, identifies access points and existing infrastructure, and asks the questions we need to scope the work properly. The walk takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on property size. You receive a written scope and pricing within 2 business days. No obligation, no pressure.
Do you handle property management software integration?
Yes. ButterflyMX, Brivo, Kisi, Openpath, and other modern access platforms integrate with major property management software (Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, AppFolio, Buildium). We handle the configuration as part of the install and verify it works before we leave the site.
What about ongoing support after installation?
Every install includes a 1-year installation warranty and we pass through the manufacturer hardware warranty (typically 3 years). We respond to service requests same business day for active clients. We are a phone call away when you need us.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Innovative Developments LLC is a licensed low-voltage contractor in Maryland, Virginia, DC, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. We carry $5M general liability insurance. License documentation and certificates of insurance are available on request before contract signing.
